Relevant work experience and how it relates to Toastmasters and your role as a District leader:
I am a qualified chartered accountant and a lecturer by profession. My profession enables me to empower and teach individuals to become the best finance professionals. I work with students from various backgrounds and Toastmasters has empowered me with the skills to mentor and coach them. I am a financial director for numerous companies including two NGOs and my local church. I own a business consultant services company (Keamo Consulting) that provides financial management solutions to clients resulting in clients with peace of mind. In addition, I am a financial coach with the aim to empower people to make wise financial decisions and to live a financial anxiety free life. As a financial manager, I will utilise the financial management skills to support cabinet in making cost effective and financial wise decisions that enable the achievement of the District mission.
 
What experience do you have in strategic planning?
I am a board member of numerous companies and have been involved in creating strategies and strategy documents for these companies. In my consultation business I also provide business strategy solutions. I have also been involved in strategy planning within Toastmasters as Division A Director and through that strategy the division was number 2 in the district. As a Education Coordinator, I was involved in the strategic planning for my role and one of the results is the #LevelUp challenge and the #StayUP challenge.
 
What experience do you have in the area of finance?
I am a CA(SA) and a financial director for numerous companies. I am involved in assisting my local church in maintaining adequate financial records. I assist clients in ensuring that their businesses are complaint; they maintain adequate records, compliant with taxman and have sound financial management policies.
 
What experience do you have in developing procedures?
In my consultancy business, I assist clients to develop or refine their current processes and procedure ensure efficiency in their business. In my positions as financial director, I am also responsible in ensuring that the companies have sound financial policies, and procedures. I also assist individuals to develop financial wise decisions and develop processes and "procedures" that will enable them to succeed.
 
What lessons did you learn from previous leadership positions?
  • Collaboration is a stepping stone to achieve your goals as leader. Learn to collaborate with other leaders than compete and you will go far.
  • Listening to others, shortens one's journey towards achieving their goals. People have solutions to your problems.
  • Leadership is influence, build relationships and results will follow "automatically".
  • Focus on the vision and goal and not on holding on to control as results are better than control when the team is achieving their goals.
Why do you want to serve as a District leader?
I want to continue developing my leadership capabilities while serving members of Toastmasters in Southern Africa, as serving accelerates learning and growth. I believe that "If you're always trying to be normal, you will never know how amazing you can be" Maya Angelou. I want to continue being amazing with the members of Toastmasters in Southern Africa.
 
In your opinion, what are the District mission’s major objectives and how would you work to achieve them?
The major objectives are starting new clubs AND supporting existing clubs achieve excellence. I would ensure that district funds are channeled to ensure that the objectives are achieved,by supporting district retention projects/campaign and new clubs projects/campaigns.
