Relevant work experience and how it relates to Toastmasters and your role as a District leader:
I have more than 35 years of experience from basic to Senior Management level. I am a Founder Partner and Certified Speaker, Coach and Trainer of the John Maxwell Team since 2011. As a seasoned executive having handled senior leadership roles in various oragnisations, this will help me to manage strategically as a leader in District 74.

What experience do you have in strategic planning?
I have been in senior management positions since 1992, wherein I had the responsibility to forecast, plan and deliver strategically many important projects for the organisations I worked for.

What experience do you have in the area of finance?
Definitely, as head of various departments in the different organisations I worked for, I had the responsibility to manage a budget, most of the time a sales and marketing budget. That gave me tremendous experience into mamaging finance at very strategic levels, especially in my roles as Marketing Director and General Manager, and also as CEO of my own companies for the past 11 years.

What experience do you have in developing procedures?
As above, I have been working in senior management positions in various organisations and one of my main roles was to develop procedures. I have been developing various procedures for sales and marketing operations in my various roles, and also strategic operational procedures for my General Manager's role and that of CEO for my own companies over the past 11 years.

What lessons did you learn from previous leadership positions?
Many! But the most important one that drives me every day to fulfill my leadership quest is that leadership is not position, power or status. It is about service. Servant leadership is about serving your organisation, its people and stakeholders. It is about making sure that people are being listened to, and their needs are being met in a fair and just way, ensuring organisational growth too!

Why do you want to serve as a District leader?
Toastmasters has completely changed my life, from a super shy guy to a public speaker. I know there are many people out there with much potential but are either not aware of it or believe they are not capable to. I want to go out there and help them achieve their dreams and unleash their hidden potential. I want to serve the District by giving back what I received from Toastmasters and mentors!

In your opinion, what are the District mission’s major objectives and how would you work to achieve them?
To serve exisiting members to become their better version, to bring in new members and create new clubs. Our District mission is to care for its members because every member matters and to exceed expectations by building new clubs and bringing in new members. This aligns very much with my vision for Mauritius. I believe there is lots of scope to fortify our existing clubs and build new clubs.
