Mentor/Mentee – Mumba Ngoma and Jahon Mayeya

When I presented my ice breaker speech, I was very nervous but I was encouraged by the comments that followed. I then signed up for the second speech which I delivered with very evident nerves, after which I convinced myself that I would not renew my membership. Before club renewal, my boss advised me that I was scheduled for interviews on our product offering. At this point, I was between “a rock and a hard place “. Jahon, our Madison Toastmasters club mentor came to mind. I learnt significant lessons in our mentorship meetings. After being mentored, I now know that what differentiates an imperfect presentation from a perfect one is preparation – let your spirit, mind, heart and body help you overcome the fear of improving your communication skills.
