To start a new club, follow these five (5) steps:
Step 1
Decide the Type of Club

Community club – open to the public.

Corporate club – sponsored by a company or organization.

Special interest club – e.g., storytelling, debate, leadership focus.
Step 2
Contact Toastmasters District 74

Reach out to your local District 74 Leaders (Club Growth Director).

They’ll give you:
-
A New Club Kit (forms, templates, marketing tools).
-
Access to a Club Sponsor or Mentor for guidance.

Step 3
Gather Your Founding Members
-
Minimum: 20 people.
-
Aim for 25–30 so you start strong.
-
Begin collecting membership applications and dues early.
Step 4
Hold Demonstration Meetings
-
Invite guests to experience a real Toastmasters meeting:

Prepared speeches

Table Topics (impromptu speaking)

Evaluations
-

Show the fun and value.

Assign basic roles so everyone feels involved
Step 5
Complete the Charter Process
Submit to Toastmasters International:
1. Charter Application
2. Club Constitution and Bylaws
3. Member Roster (20+ members)
4. Payment (one-time charter fee + first member dues
Applicable Fees:
- $125: One-time chartering fee
- $20: New-member fee per person
- $60: Six months’ membership dues per person
- Additional dues: Clubs may also charge supplementary club dues to cover expenses.
