At Forum Toastmasters club we recently celebrated our 1000th meeting, a stupendous accomplishment in any context. The club was chartered back in 1976, by 20 founder members at the German club in Pretoria. The meeting was well attended by current and former club members from all over the world, including past presidents from Botswana, Namibia, Germany and Austria. Guests of honour included the Past District Director Nikki Quinn, Division A Director Vusi Maupa and Area Director Paul Taylor. Hard to believe, but the club still has one living founder member, Peter Millar, who attended the meeting and presented a speech. He has been a member of Toastmasters for over 40 years. Truly a club where you can learn by “standing on the shoulders of giants”.
