Four years ago in August 2014 I made my first overseas trip, thanks to Toastmasters.Where there is a will, there is always a way. I saved for months and was motivated further because Lloyd Mugabe was going to represent District 74.A few days before I was due to travel, I was literally glued to my computer looking for a cheap flight. The universe never disappoints, it conspired and I found myself in Malaysia.
I met so many interesting people, Robin Sieger , Sha Nacino. I actually talked and laughed with the newly appointed International President Mohammed Murad of Dubai ,United Arab Emirates. It was like I was talking to one of my club members. He was humble and inspired me so much with his journey in Toastmasters. I made a decision there and then that one day, not someday I will be The Toastmasters International President. Later I was to discover you need at least 10 years or more to achieve that, so yes that’s why I am a Toastmaster for life.
It was in Malaysia that I bonded with Nikki, Annien, Aletta,Sandra, Fran, Paul and Reinhardt from District 74. This trip down memory lane reminded me that Toastmasters has brought me a lot of joy , and yes, sometimes tears too as I continuously work towards polishing the diamond in me. Indeed where there is a will there is a way.
