Front Row Seats for Everyone!!
Attending the Toastmasters’ International Convention is on many Toastmasters members bucket list. It was definitely on mine. The first time I attended an International Convention, I was like a child in a candy store. So much to do and see!!
This year as the International Convention moved online, every member had the opportunity to attend the Convention in the virtual world. Although very different in nature there was still so much to do and see during the Convention that one was spoilt for choice!!
The Keynote addresses covered a wide range of subjects and District 74 was so proud to have one of our own, Dineshrie Pillay DTM, on stage to educate and entertain us with her insights.
The Business Meeting was run so smoothly and we, as District 74, were able to use our votes to elect our new leaders and decide on the two motions that were put forward for our consideration. We then celebrated and congratulated our newly elected leaders, connecting with other Toastmasters around the globe.
Our Region 11 Contestant, Benjamin Wayo DTM, made it through the semi finals and gave an amazing performance as one of the eight finalists in the Toastmasters World Championship of Public Speaking, which had an audience of more than 50 000 people across the globe. The finalists made us laugh, cry and think as they shared their messages. A front row seat to this event was exciting for all that attended.
Our Region 11 gathering was attended by leaders and members alike to celebrate the victories of the different Districts within Region 11. The top three Districts in the world belong to Region 11 and as District 74 we are going to strive for progress as we aim for the goal of Smedley Distinguished for the Toastmaster Year 2020/2021,
