Welcoming. Professional. Inspirational. This is Maputo Toastmasters in Mozambique. Although the auspice of my virtual visit from the USA was to share wisdom learnt during my own speaking journey, I found that I received more than I could have ever shared. From the introductions, to the virtual raising of glasses for a toast, to the simple interpersonal interactions – the warmth and welcoming nature of the club shone through. From a professional standpoint, each participant was well spoken (in their 2nd language) and I was amazed and inspired by how efficiently the meeting was run despite generally only having 1-2 participants cameras on due to bandwidth issues.
