My name is Sangita Bhattacharya. My home club is Mahendra Toastmasters in Mumbai, India. It is said that energy flows where your thoughts take you. I joined Toastmasters to overcome my fear of public speaking. And I am so happy to share with you my journey in Toastmasters and beyond, since then. Apart from managing the butterflies in my tummy, as I grow every step to be a confident speaker, I have experienced something much more than myself. The “new normal” has enabled the whole world to be at our fingertips. Hence, I could visit the Evolving Ladies Toastmasters Club in Harare, Zimbabwe.  My roots are in Africa as I was born in Zambia. And so, when I saw the message from DTM Dorothy Chanakira, I was so excited to fly away by Zoom Airways. I loved the energy and the warmth that greeted me and the confidence in speakers expressing themselves with elegance. I volunteered to take up a table topic – “Now that you have come out of your comfort zone who would you like to be with?” and I shared my belief – it is very important to challenge yourself beyond your comfort zone, because beyond that lies the discovery of your purpose in life and the potential to live your dreams. Toastmasters is the perfect platform enabling us with the zone of growth and self-actualization.
