Where were you on Friday the 18th of January when I saw the update on our Toastmasters International website?

One of our own inspirational leaders whose impact has multiplied across the 9 countries of our District and all around the Region of Africa, Middle East and Europe was declared by the International Leadership Committee as the sole nominated candidate for the Board of Directors representing Region 11.

Aletta Rochat who served as District Governor in 2014/15 year was inspirational in leading the District team that led us to Select Distinguished status. She continued to soar, serving as Region Advisor for 2 terms.She is now ready to represent us on the Board as International Director.

We celebrate Aletta for this daring display of service and we are proud to call her our own.

If elected she will be the fourth leader from District 74 to take on such a role.

Voting for the candidates will take place at the Toastmasters International Convention in August. The District Director will vote on behalf of the clubs that assign their proxy to him/her. A day is assigned for the District Directors from all regions to interview all candidates to allow them to make an informed voting decision. We will be covering more on this issue in future publications.

As a district, we wish Aletta the very best in her campaign leading up to the election and I certainly wish to be there to witness this moment in August, Denver Colorado. Will you be there?
