Mentorship without Borders

I am Nondumiso Thango from the Social Network Club, in Johannesburg, South Africa. If I had a penny for every time I heard a successful Toastmaster refer to “my mentor”, I would finally be able to purchase a Gucci bag. The Mentorship without Borders (MwB) program pleasantly surprised me by kicking off on an exciting and competitive note. I joined this initiative to learn more about what makes an effective mentee-mentor relationship, to refine my own mentoring skills and most importantly to pay it forward. It is no secret that this organization, where leaders are made, is buzzing with people who have theoretical knowledge on mentorship – Pathways level 2 is a good showcase of this fact. The approach of the MwB program, however, gives a Toastmaster a balanced opinion on mentorship as it is extremely practical, explores both sides of the relationship and provides a supportive environment to learn from one’s mistakes.

The most recent session of Mentorship without Borders took place on Monday 16 November, 2020. The next meeting will be on Monday 7th December, 2020.
